MVBKA February Newsletter

As the temperatures begin to get warmer (fingers crossed) the bees are beginning to become active. Time to dust off your suit, fire up your smoker and get ready for the first inspection of the year.

Meon Valley Beekeepers Association are hosting the Hampshire Spring Convention this year.

When – Saturday 17th March
Where – Meon Hall, Meonstoke, SO32 3NP – Google map

Coffee will be available from 9:30.
The programme starts at 10:00 with a talk from Dr Gerry Brierly, who will be telling us about Medicinal Apitherapy.
After the above talk, Margaret Murdin will be talking about the different types of queen cells, how they arise and how to recognise them.

Lunch is followed by four workshops, which all delegates can attend.
This year the focus is on swarming but there will also be a workshop on making mead and gardening for bees.

Tickets will be available at the meeting in February and are £15 in advance or £20 on the day.
The price includes a light lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

If you are not able to come to the February meeting and would like tickets, please contact Jean.

Hope to see you there!
