Bumblebee Identification
15 June @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm BST

We will take a closer look at the bumblebee species you are most likely to encounter in North East Scotland. This 3-hour workshop is suitable for beginners with no previous experience of bumblebee identification. By the end of the session, we hope that you will feel more confident in recognising and recording common bumblebee species. These species are quite easily recognised and reliable recording of their presence can greatly help in programmes for their control. Our FREE online identification workshop will be hosted on Microsoft Teams.
Skills for Bees is a Bumblebee Conservation Trust project which aims to promote bumblebee surveying and monitoring in the Cairngorms National Park. Scotland is home to 20 of the 24 UK bumblebee species, and three nationally scarce species are found in the Cairngorms National Park. However, our knowledge about exactly where they are and how they are doing in these areas is limited because there are not many people looking for them. Can you help us fill in the gaps?
