Honey-Sweetened Sloe Gin Recipe

So, what will you need:

  • 300g sloes (washed and frozen overnight)
  • 700ml good quality Gin
  • 150–200g delicious honey

Now the fun part, the method:

  • Pop your sloes in the freezer overnight to split the skins. We actually prick the berries with a needle, to mimic a thorn and help the juices seep in with the Gin.
  • Add them to a sterilised jar and cover with Gin.
  • Seal tightly and store in a cool, dark cupboard for approximately 8 weeks or so, shaking gently every few days.
  • Strain, taste, and then stir in your warmed honey a little at a time until it’s just right.
  • Bottle, label, and let it rest for a few weeks before pouring your first glass.

How should you serve this:

  • Serve chilled over ice, or top with fizz for a festive Sloe Royale.
  • Another option is to pour into our Muth Jars and give as a gift. Delicious and beautiful!

Why use honey?:

  • Honey adds natural sweetness without the harsh edge of refined sugar. It gives your homemade gin a golden glow and subtle floral notes that perfectly complement the deep, berry-rich flavour of sloes.
  • A kinder sweetness, straight from the hive.
