Reception will be open from 09:00 am and tea/coffee is available on arrival.

Please book in, collect your name badges and your programme for the day – you will be allocated to a coloured group.

Presentations/workshops will start promptly at 0930.

Throughout the day you will have the opportunity to work in the microscopy lab and listen to lectures and workshops:

Microscopy work:

Christine Coulsting & James Donaldson – Alimentary canal – nosema / EFB

Presentations/workshops:

1. Dylan Gussman – Biotechnical methods of varroa control.

2. Lesley Jaques – Hive hygiene, comb changes, sterilisation techniques.

3. Krysia Watson – Spring tracking

4. Jackie Thomas – Dover & District BKA – Experience of Yellow Legged Asian Hornet in Kent.

5. Martin Hann & Claire Densley – Buckfast Abbey Beekeepers – Chronic Bee Paralysis Virus

We aim to provide a level of workshop to suit your needs, whether you are a new beekeeper considering the Basic Assessment or an experienced beekeeper working towards the General (or Advanced) Husbandry Assessment.

For those that have passed the Basic Assessment a few years ago, the Honey Bee Health Assessment syllabus will be covered in the workshops.

Lunch will be from 12.30pm until 1.30 pm and food can be purchased on campus. We need to provide numbers for the catering team so you will be asked “Do you wish to have lunch at the venue” at the eventbrite checkout

The day will finish at around 16:30.
