The AGM will be held at 7.00pm on Tuesday 10 March 2026 Itchen Abbas Village Hall Winchester SO21 1BQ.
The delegates appointed by each of the 14 Local Associations in membership of HBA are invited to attend and will be entitled to vote. Other members of LAs may attend as observers but without speaking or voting rights. The HBA constitution entitles one delegate to be appointed by Local Associations for every 20, or part thereof, of the registered full members of their association.
The papers for the AGM will be circulated by 23 February 2026 and will include annual reports and accounts from the HBA Executive together with details of the elections to the Executive which comprises up to twelve members including the three officers, Chair, Treasurer and Honorary Secretary. The members of the Executive are also the trustees of the charity, HBA.
One ordinary member of the Executive, Peter Grimes, has decided to stand down at the end of his three-year term of office. The Treasurer of HBA, Richard Ray has also decided to stand down. Two other members of the Executive, xxxx and xxxxx have served a full three-year term but are eligible to stand again for a further three-year term. The HBA Constitution does not require these places to be filled as the number of trustees can be between six and twelve but if there are persons willing to stand there is room for additional members of the Executive to be appointed.
Accordingly, nominations are invited for the post of Treasurer and for ordinary members of the Executive for election for a three-year term from the end of the AGM 2026. Nominations of persons, who must be a member of a constituent association, must be made by someone entitled to vote at the AGM (i.e.an appointed delegate or member of the Executive) and must be sent to the HBA Acting Hon.Secretary by 5.00pm on Friday 16 February 2024. The nominated person is required to confirm to the Hon.Secretary their willingness to be nominated and to submit a short statement of not more than 150 words about themselves including about their engagement with beekeeping. If there are more nominations than vacancies, there will be a vote taken at the AGM with the results being announced directly after the votes have been counted.
